When you’re new to the stock market, it’s virtually impossible not to hear “This is the best opportunity out there”. Whether it be on the internet, from a friend or family member or even a financial advisor. But how do you know what is an opportunity and what’s dead money?
The answer at that time is YOU DON’T. If you invest in that opportunity and it goes up, you’re likely to do that again until you wind up losing and then you’ll seek out more information. There is much more of a process for me to put my hard earned money in to a stock, but I’m also not obsessing over every detail. It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s very simple.
Today I’m going to show you how I go through the evaluation with an update on the Core Portfolio and the Watch List and detail each step I go through.
How can I follow the Core Portfolio and Watch List?

Follow The Core Portfolio on Savvy Trader
If you want to follow the Core Portfolio for free, it’s on Savvy Trader. This is simply 35 stocks that I believe are core to any portfolio and can be traded or added when an opportunity presents itself. I typically will add these stocks at all time highs and it’s just 100 shares when the stock enters and 100 shares when the stock exits. It’s not a managed portfolio and does beat the S&P. The portfolio is not optimized as it’s created more to just give people stock ideas vs. actual returns but it shows you there are ways to beat the S&P. Click the photo below to follow for FREE.
The Daily Stock Pick Watch List
This is a curated list of stocks that are taken from my research on Seeking Alpha, some Alpha Picks stocks, some Motley Fool recommendations along with stocks that I’ve traded or owned or have been runners in the past.
